Writing Prompt Excercise — 100 Words

“Imagine,” he says, arms spread wide, eyes bright with excitement, “set aside your scepticism for a moment, and just imagine.

“An end to hatred. An end to bigotry. An end to war, to poverty, to inequality. What I am talking about here is nothing less than the cure to all the ills of humankind.

“I am talking about putting everything back into Pandora’s box and returning to an ideal that now only exists in myths. Free from all that, just imagine what people could do!”

“Stagnate,” I mutter from my position on the lab table. “They’ll lose their only motivations.”
